Artist: Pietro Aretino (1492-1556) Confronting Bodies: Christian Church, Pope Date of Action: 1558 Specific Location: 13 Description of Artwork: Pietro Aretino's book Sonetti Lussuriosi, (otherwise known as La Corona di Cazza) contained illustrations of various sexual positions, "Posizioni." The illustrations were done by Giulio Romano, which he created from Aretino's verse. Description of Incident: In 1527 Pope Clement VII condemned and had suppressed every edition of his Sonetti Lussuriosi which had been published in 1524.
